I have wanted to do this event since I saw the footage from last year’s first outing. It really didn’t disappoint at all. I’ve been training for months and getting insider tips from last year’s king, the_steelmace_dojo.

Lloyd and Lisbeth have done this oddball community of mace athletes a great favour by bringing us all together at the gates of Valhalla. I’m incredibly grateful for finding this sport that fires me up and it’s such a bonus to be able to compete as well.

There was a qualifier and then a max of six 5 minute rounds leading to the crowning of the King of Swing 2025. No one really wanted to get through to round 5 and 6 as they would lead directly into one another with the top 2 going head to head in what turned out to be a pretty brutal blood fest.

But this one is my post and I’ll spoil the suspense and say that I got through to the 4th round (the small finale) and came out 5th overall and top placed woman.

I was incredibly pleased, absolutely buzzing and so awed by the support from everyone.

Georgie warrants a special call out for being a top motivator who gave me real focus point for the final round. I wish us both health and strength over the next year so we can go head to head in 2026. You’ve been an inspiration.

Parky65 who came and supported me throughout and held the camera for multiple 5 min rounds - no mean feat, despite not really loving mace sport. I’ll be working on her over the next 12 months because I think she would be a fierce competitor.
